Husband got his wife raped by more than 50 people, case filed against him; know the whole case

Avignon: The trial has begun in court against the accused in the sensational case of drugging his wife for a decade and calling dozens of men to rape her in southern France. This case shocked the whole country. The accused in the case, Dominique Pellicot (71), can be sentenced to 20 years in prison if found guilty. His testimony will be important for about 50 other people standing with him in the court, who are accused of raping the accused’s wife Gisele Pellicot.

The hearing will be held in open court. 

The victim Gisele Pellicot, who has become a symbol of the fight against sexual violence in France, has agreed to reveal her identity in the case and has permitted for the trial to be heard in open court. She can record her statement in court after the testimony of her ex-husband.

“How is it possible for a married life of 50 years to be with someone who hides his life so well? It’s horrifying,” said Bernadette Tesnier, 69, who attended the court hearing to watch the trial.

According to court documents, this shocking case came to light in 2020 when a security agent caught Pellicot making intimate videos of women in a supermarket. After this, the police searched Pellicot’s house and electronic devices and recovered thousands of photos and videos of men engaged in sexual relations with Gisele Pellicot. According to the document, when the police reached Pellicot’s house, Gisele was found unconscious on her bed. During the investigation, the police managed to trace most of the 72 suspects. Gisele and Pellicot have three children. After retiring, the couple moved from Paris to the small town of Mazan in Provence.

According to legal documents, when police officers called Gisele in for questioning, she initially told them that her husband was a “good man.” They showed Gisele some of the pictures, after which she left her husband and they are now divorced. Apart from Pellicot, 50 other men aged between 26 and 74 are facing trial. Many of them deny raping Gisele, claiming that Pellicot lied to them and that they believed Gisele had agreed to have sex.
