Infosys to implement Work From Office policy: Infosys started “system intervention” to enforce its 10-day Work From Office policy. This reorganization follows the company’s hybrid approach whereby employees are required to work from a physical location for a minimum of ten days a month.

The system will ensure compliance by tracking attendance. The decision by Infosys marks a shift in the industry that has been gradually embracing hybrid systems which combine remote and office work.

This change in policy covering collaboration and productivity may set a precedent for other IT companies.

WFO policy at Infosys

In a bid to bring more employees back onto the campus, the Infosys IT Services company based in India’s Silicon Valley, ordered employees to comply with the mandatory ten days a month office attendance policy commencing Wednesday.

As has been reported by the Economic Times, functional heads based at the Bengaluru headquarters sent out mailers instructing employees to ease the number of WFH days they request beginning on the 10th of March.

Intervention will be made to limit the maximum number of remote work days to one per week starting March 10, 2025. ET has seen reports suggesting these measures are aimed at balancing employee autonomy and complying with new hybrid work policies.

Infosys, which has a headcount of around 323,000, did not respond to an email soliciting comments. One of the higher-level executives confirmed the primary focus of the so-called “system intervention” is ensuring that flexibility is granted as long as effective team collaboration is maintained.

An organization that previously requested feedback also noted: “You know that our hybrid model necessitates at least ten days of office attendance per month in addition to other business related activities.”

Teams sought for 10 days of office attendance per month

The policy applies to production staff at and below job level 5 (JL5). JL5 includes team leaders and is above the software engineer, senior engineer, system engineer and consultant. Managers, senior managers, delivery managers, and senior delivery managers comprise JL6 and above, but not vice presidents.

Work from home requests will not be approved and everyone must work within the office.

Infosys staff are required to mark their attendance on a mobile device. This program will not “automatically” grant WFH permissions anymore, instead it will require them to “check in” for attendance on at least ten work days during the month where they are located at their home office base.

It is being reported that an employee who does not meet the work from office target by a day or two will lose those days from leave entitlements.
