Google has introduced a major update to its Find My Device app, simplifying how users keep track of friends and family. If you’ve ever shared your location through Google Maps, this update organizes all location-sharing details into one convenient place.

New “People” Tab for Real-Time Location Tracking

The updated app now includes a “People” tab, where you can view real-time locations of contacts who have shared their location with you. It displays:

  • The current address of each person
  • Their distance from you
  • The last time their location was updated

What’s Different from Google Maps?

While Google Maps already offers location sharing, this update streamlines the experience. Instead of switching between apps, you can now find all shared locations in one place with a cleaner and more user-friendly design.

Easier Account Switching & Settings Management

The update also allows you to:

  • Easily switch between Google accounts – helpful for separating work and personal location-sharing.
  • Adjust location-sharing settings directly within the app.

Competing with Apple’s Find My App

Since its launch last year, Find My Device has steadily improved. This latest update brings it closer to Apple’s Find My app, which iPhone users have relied on for years.

Availability & Benefits for Android Users

The update is now rolling out for Android users. Whether you need to coordinate with friends in a crowded area or ensure a family member’s safety, the improved Find My Device app makes staying connected more seamless than ever.
