Prabhas' action-packed film Salaar, originally released in 2023, is making waves again with its highly anticipated theatrical re-release. The film, which shattered records during its first run in cinemas and on streaming platforms, is now on track to reach an even bigger milestone.
Advance Booking Surpasses Expectations
Salaar is scheduled to hit theatres once again on March 21, but its advance booking began as early as March 13. Within days, numerous shows sold out, indicating a strong audience demand.
According to industry sources, over 125 shows have been made available for online booking, with an impressive 50% average occupancy rate. So far, more than 34,000 tickets have been sold for the opening day of its re-release, generating a revenue of approximately ₹47 lakh. The majority of ticket sales have come from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, where Prabhas enjoys massive fan support.
On Track to Enter the ₹500 Crore Club
With this momentum, Salaar is expected to achieve full house screenings across multiple regions. During its initial release, the film grossed ₹480.26 crore at the Indian box office. Now, it is just ₹19.74 crore away from reaching the coveted ₹500 crore domestic earnings milestone.
Given the recent trend of successful re-releases and Prabhas' massive fan base, the film is well-positioned to achieve this landmark figure in no time.
Star-Studded Cast and Upcoming Sequel
Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Salaar features an ensemble cast including Jagapathi Babu, Sriya Reddy, Mime Gopi, and Shruti Haasan alongside Prabhas. The film was one of the highest-grossing movies of 2023, and its massive success led to the announcement of a sequel, Salaar: Part 2 – Shouryanga Parvam, which is currently in production.
