When the mega player auction was held in the year 2022, at that time all the franchises were allowed to retain a maximum of 4 players by the BCCI, in which only more than 3 Indian or 2 foreign players were allowed. Regarding this mega player auction, a meeting of all 10 franchises was held at the BCCI headquarters on July 31, in which the retention policy was also discussed. After this, BCCI can now allow the retention of at least 5 players, which will give the franchises a chance to retain their old players and this will also ensure their brand value. Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings can get the most benefit from this.
