The last film of Thalapathy Vijay, Jana Nayagan is set to release finally and will be released on 9th January 2026. In a recent update, KVN Productions, the film’s premiere house, confirmed that the movie would hit cinemas for Pongal in 2026.
Posting on social media, the production company announced today that Jana Nayagan will come to theaters on January 9 next year. They also added, “Adiyum othaiyum kalanthu vechu vidiya vidiya virundhu vecha… #JanaNayaganPongal. 09.01.2026 #JanaNayaganFromJan9.”
The producers initially set the film’s release for October last year, but later withdrew their claim.
Vijay can be seen smiling in a standing position and dressed in white. As expected, fans flocked to the comment section to express their disbelief at seeing the superstar for one last time on the big screen. One fan wrote, “Without any doubt Gonna be the best pongal for me.” Another fan added, “Thalapathy is a hero, one last time.”
To those unknowing of this, this will be Vijay’s the last in a row movie before he makes a total shift in his career into politics. The superstar has publicly shared plans to run for the 2026 Tamil Nadu elections with his newly founded party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
Vijay made this decision during a public rally in February, stating clearly that he plans to retire from acting after completing his 69th film. Responding to doubters, he reiterated his pledge to work for the benefit of the people, stating that he will exclusively delved into politics.
Regarding the film, it is a multi-starrer remake of the 2023 hit Bhagavanth Kesari. Bobby Deol and Pooja Hegde are the other two main cast members, while Vijay features alongside Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, Priyamani, Mamitha Baiju, Monisha Blessy, and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in significant supporting roles.
