KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty Welcome Baby Girl; Cricketer Skips IPL Opener for Fatherhood:

KL Rahul, one of India’s cricket superstars, and his wife Athiya Shetty, a Bollywood actress, have welcomed a baby girl into the world. The couple announced the same via Instagram with an adorable post on Monday evening. During the birth of his child, KL Rahul chose to miss the IPL 2025 game between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants which he plays for. As soon as the couple shared the news, Bollywood started wishing them. Shuaya kapoor, Krishna Shroff are a few of those who congratulated the couple.

Delhi’s captain Axar spoke during the press conference before the DC vs LSG match saying, “Of course we know KL joined the team. As for him playing we are not sure yet. At this point there is no confirmation on his availability.”

In November 2024, KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty announced they were expecting a child.

Delhi Capital’s acquisition of Rahul, which occurred during a bidding war with Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, cost them ₹14 crores making him their new opener, captain, and wicketkeeper batter.

KL will be going to IPL 2024 with lots of positive momentum because he was an important part of the Indian team that won the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He assumed the role of number six in the batting order which as some of you may know is not the most ideal position when the team wants to strengthen the batting lineup by placing Axar Patel at five. Rahul was important in the middle and scored a vital 34* in 33 balls during the final against New Zealand. In five matches and four innings, he scored 140 runs and had an average of 140.00 and a strike rate of 97.90 with the best score of 42*.

KL is the 12thighest run-getter in IPL history and has scored 4683 runs at an average of 45.46 with a strike rate of 134.60 in 132 matches and 123 innings. His century and fifty tally stands at four and thirty seven respectively while his best score is 132*. He has played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Punjab Kings (PBKS) and LSG but is yet to win the IPL trophy.
