With Sikar being categorized as an educational city, traffic jams have become a problem that keeps on increasing every day. Therefore, the government is contemplating the construction of a ring road on the lines of the one in Jaipur. Construction plans for the Jaipur-Bikaner bypass have also been proposed, and it is suggested that it be widened to four lanes. In the past year, state authorities, including Union Cabinet Minister Nitin Gadkari, have made verbal commitments, but no progress has been realized so far. Moreover, there is a tentative plan of constructing five culverts in this region. These include Sanwali Chauraha, Nani Bypass, Palwas Road, Dhod Road and Chandpura Chauraha.
Concerns have been raised by the road engineering professionals regarding the overpass as well as the following future developments on Chandpura Road. Currently, citizens attest to the fact that there is not much congestion on Chandpura Road, and with the construction of the ring road, there will be even lesser. Therefore, at this point, an overpass on this road is not a reasonable suggestion. Moreover, constructing a culvert at this site can put the locals at a greater disadvantage.
It is impossible to determine when the waterlogging will finally come to an end?
The stretch from Ramu Ka Bas Tiraha to Bhadadar is meant for four-layer construction. From Nani to Bhadadar, the area faces waterlogging complaints even in the dry season. Even though the DPR has been drafted, the water drainage project has not been sanctioned yet, even in the dry season, the region suffers from waterlogging. The government has set aside approximately Rupees 350 crores for the project so it should be dealt with as a priority.
What is the bus entry protocol into town once a culvert is built in Chandapura area?
For now at least, it seems that the construction of the culvert in Chandpura is set in stone as seen with various other buildings in the city. Experts tell that Ajmer Private Buses, along with the A.C. Roadway Buses, will be able to use this route too. However, experts suggest that the placement of the culvert should be shifted deeper into the town. This will pave the path for more buses to enter via Jaipur road.
This poses an even graver problem of increased traffic congestion in the town. For now, only the residents of few colonies use the services of the buses running on Chandpura road however, this will most likely change after the culvert is built. This rapid change can and most likely will lead to direct consequences that flood the government with revenue. The experts suggest waiting until the okay is given on the vote and hoping the region is not too affected.
Chaudhary Charan Singh Sanwali Circle: Traffic jam throughout the day
A new pressure of traffic has been added on Sanwali Circle because of new settlements getting established in the bypass area alongside the medical college. This area also connects Sikar city with Ajmer Road. The Sanwali intersection is completely surrounded by residential and industrial area and therefore, there is an opportunity of accidents taking place here. This creates a huge scope for culvert construction.
Maa Chauraha: Salasar devotees will get relief
There is constant movement of vehicles on this route because of people visiting Salasar that creates a Traffic jam in this part of the road. The pilgrims going to Salasar contributes towards traffic congestion on the highway. Many big accidents have happened on the road. There has been a constant demand of a culvert for years. Once the construction has started, people should not have a problem anymore.
Dhod Marg and Palwas Marg: Reduction in Road Accidents
The residents of various villages have been using Dhod Road or Palwas Road to reach Sikar city. Moreover, there is also traffic from Nagaur and Jodhpur. Due to lack of a culvert here, accidents occur daily. Construction of a culvert will result in a lower accident rate in the bypass zone.
A four lane from Ramu Ke Baas to Bhadadar should have been executed much earlier, as it was a planned development of the education sector. The construction of the four lane will ease the traffic congestion that citizens suffer in the bypass region. The government seems to have plans to make the bridge a four lane, but should first deal with the matter of water disposal. There does not appear to be a need to construct a culvert at Chandpura crossing for the time being. Conversations should also be held with the designers of the ring road so that adequate measures are taken to avoid inconveniencing the public in the future.
