On Thursday morning, several districts in Uttar Pradesh experienced light to moderate rain, making the weather pleasant. Cities like Lucknow, Gonda, Kanpur, Bahraich, and Sant Kabir Nagar received rainfall, with heavy showers and thunderstorms recorded in Kanpur. The rain has provided a welcome break from the recent heatwave.

Western Disturbance Behind Weather Change

This shift in weather is due to a western disturbance affecting the region. As a result, various parts of the state have seen both light and heavy rain. The rainfall is expected to bring temporary relief from the intense heat that has been affecting North-West and Central India for the past week.

IMD Issues Rain Alert for Multiple Districts

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), both western and eastern parts of the state are likely to receive more rain. Showers may continue for the next two to three days, but weather experts warn the relief will be short-lived. Dry and hot conditions are expected to return after April 13.

Thunderstorms and Strong Winds Expected

The IMD has also predicted thunder, lightning, and winds blowing at 20–30 kmph in parts of western and eastern Uttar Pradesh. These conditions may persist through Friday and Saturday, with some areas likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds.
