Adulteration of food items will be costly in UP, CM Yogi Adityanath gave these guidelines

In an important meeting on Tuesday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath discussed the proposed new law to put a permanent stop to the incidents of adulteration of food items like juice, pulses, and roti with human waste/inedible/filthy things that have happened in recent times. In this meeting, CM Yogi Adityanath gave many important guidelines to the officials. In these guidelines, orders have been given to take action considering adulteration in food items as non-bailable.

CM Yogi Adityanath gave these instructions:

• CM Yogi said that in recent times, incidents of adulteration of food items like juice, pulses, and roti with human waste/inedible/filthy things have been seen in various parts of the country. Such incidents are horrific and adversely affect the health of the common man. It also adversely affects social harmony. Such nefarious attempts cannot be accepted at all. 
• Keeping in view the importance of ensuring the purity of food items and maintaining the trust of consumers in public order, it is necessary to make strict laws. Make clear laws regarding these activities related to hotels, restaurants, dhabas, and street vendors. Punishment of imprisonment and fine should be ensured against those who violate the law. Action should be taken by considering such crimes as cognizable and non-bailable. 
• It must be ensured through a law that no antisocial elements, hide their identity, adulterate food items and beverages with human waste, or inedible and dirty things. Such antisocial activities should be strictly curbed. 
• Every consumer should have the right to have the necessary information about the seller of food and beverages and service providers. For this, it should be mandatory for the seller to put up a signboard at the establishment. It should be mandatory for all the personnel working in the food establishment to wear identity cards. There should be a provision for the harshest punishment against those who use pseudonyms and give wrong information.
• Every food establishment should ensure that its food is not contaminated. It should be mandatory to install a sufficient number of CCTV cameras for continuous monitoring in the kitchen and dining room of food establishments, whose footage for at least one month should be made available at all times on demand by the district administration. 
• It should be mandatory to wear a head cover, mask, and gloves while cooking food in the kitchen and serving it in the food establishment. The food business operator should provide the details of the personnel working in the establishment to the concerned DHN.
• If any employee of a food establishment is confirmed to be an intruder or an illegal foreigner, strict action should be taken against them. Clear provisions should be made in the law in this regard.
