Palm Beach, Florida: US President-elect Donald Trump met Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Saturday at Trump's Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach. Giorgia Meloni followed Argentine President Javier Melli, who was the first to visit Trump at Mar-a-Lago after he won the election in November 2024. After this, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban have also visited Florida to meet the elected President.

Trump entered the Grand Ballroom at about 7 pm on Saturday evening and returned after having dinner about two hours later. "This is very exciting," Trump told the crowd in front of Meloni. "I'm here with a wonderful woman and the prime minister of Italy. She has really blown Europe and everybody else away. We're just having dinner tonight," Trump said. The president-elect and Meloni also met his incoming administration's Secretary of State and Florida Senator Marco Rubio, and Florida Representative Mike Waltz, the national security adviser. This is Meloni's first visit to Iran after Italian journalist Cecilia Sala was detained by Iranian police while reporting in Tehran late last month.

Tension is rising between Italy and Iran

The Italian Prime Minister has visited America at a time when there is tension between her country and Iran. Let us tell you that America is also strict against Iran. The recent arrest of an Italian journalist has increased tension between Italy and Iran. In return, Iran is demanding the Italian authorities to release the Iranian businessman who was arrested in Milan on a US warrant in connection with the drone attack in Jordan last year, in which three American soldiers were killed.

Meloni will also meet Biden

After meeting Trump, Meloni is also scheduled to meet Biden, who is scheduled to travel to Rome on Thursday to meet Pope Francis along with Meloni. The White House says Meloni's meeting will "further reinforce the strength of the US-Italy relationship." During this, Biden will thank the Italian Prime Minister "for her strong leadership of the G7 last year."
