Kumbh Mela 2025: Maha Kumbh is going to start from January 13. The holy bath of Maha Kumbh will be taken till February 26. It is believed that during Maha Kumbh, the water of holy rivers becomes Amrit. In such a situation, any devotee who takes a dip in the holy rivers like Ganga, Yamuna etc. during this time, all his sins are washed away. Preparations for organizing the Maha Kumbh are done many months in advance, while the devotees who reach here also prepare many days in advance. However, before taking a dip in the Maha Kumbh, you must know some special things. Today in this article we will give you information about the things said by the religious gurus about the Maha Kumbh.

What should people who take bath in Kumbh keep in mind?

Swami Avimukteshwaranand Shankaracharya ji says that only those people have the right to take a dip in the Maha Kumbh who believe that sins are destroyed by taking a holy dip. That is, those who have unwavering faith in religion. Along with this, Shankaracharya ji says, 'Before the Maha Kumbh bath, a separate bath should be taken to clean the dirt of the body'. One should take a dip in the Maha Kumbh only after removing the dirt of the body. This dip washes away the dirt of your mind.

The glory of Maha Kumbh

Swami Avimukteshwaranand Shankaracharya Ji and Jagadguru Ram Bhadracharya Ji have almost similar views on the glory of Maha Kumbh. Both of them believe that the Kumbh fair is held in a special position of the planets. Especially the place and time of Maha Kumbh is selected by looking at the position of Sun and Jupiter. Jagadguru Ram Bhadracharya Ji says that, when the war was going on between the gods and demons over the Amrit Kalash, drops of Amrit fell at four places. Maha Kumbh is organized at the time when these drops fell.

Why does Maha Kumbha happen?

Why does Maha Kumbh take place? Regarding this, Swami Avimukteshwaranand Shankaracharya Ji said that it is mentioned in Shiva Purana. According to Shiva Purana, once Gautam Rishi had committed the sin of cow slaughter. Then when people told him that his sin can be washed away by taking a dip in the Ganga, Gautam Rishi called out to Mother Ganga. On Gautam Rishi's prayer, Mother Ganga appeared on earth from heaven. After this, Gautam Rishi got rid of the sin of cow slaughter by taking a bath in the Ganga. After this, when Mother Ganga started returning, people said that there are many sinners on Mother Earth. They should also get freedom from sin, so you should stay here. Then Mother Ganga said that I will stop only when you promise that every 12 years everyone will gather on my banks and decide that the vow they had taken has been fulfilled. From then on, the organization of Maha Kumbh started.

Religious and Spiritual Significance of Kumbh

Swami Avimukteshwaranand Shankaracharya Ji says about the importance of Kumbh that Kumbh Mela is held during the auspicious combination of planets or Shubh Yog. Its religious and spiritual significance is that a person gets many times the fruits of the good deeds done during this time. By taking bath in Maha Kumbh, the dirt of the mind is washed away and the person attains peace. Also, by taking bath in holy rivers during Maha Kumbh, a person also gets spiritual upliftment.

What do religious gurus say about Akharas?

Akharas are given the honour of bathing first in view of their devotion towards religion. Jagadguru Ram Bhadracharya Ji says that Akharas are represented by Acharyas (heads of Akharas). Akharas have three types of armies, Nirvani (Navy), Nirmahi (Navy), Digambar (Army). On the other hand, regarding the Akhara sadhus bathing first, Swami Avimukteshwaranand Shankaracharya Ji says that there is no mention of this order in the scriptures. This rule has been in place due to the arrangement made by mutual consent between the administration and the people.
