Canada PR Update: Millions of Indian professionals are employed in Canada. Similar to previous years, thousands of workers are set to travel to Canada looking for job opportunities. A lot of people aspire to obtain Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) status. Achieving Canadian PR is a tedious process. The good news is there are few cities from where getting a job unlocks PR pathways. One such city is currently offering PR to foreign employees.
In what city are you getting permanent residency?
The city of Greater Sudbury in Ontario is included in the jurisdiction of the “Rural Community Immigration Pilot” (RCIP). The Canadian government allows the participating cities and towns under this mobility scheme to grant permanent residency (PR) to select immigrants. Greater Sudbury has published the list of its employers i.e. companies for RCIP. Under this pilot scheme, a foreign national would be eligible to apply for PR if he has received an employment offer from the participating employers under RCIP. A total of 525 visas will be issued if an individual is willing to work at one of 78 companies located in the city. (Gemini)
What is RCIP?
RCIP is an immigration pilot program, which was launched earlier this year. It addresses the immigration needs of some underpopulated rural regions of Canada. To apply for PR under RCIP, the foreign national should have a job offer from a company located in the designated city. The position should fall under one of the priorities defined for that city. To put it simply, PR is only offered if the applicant will be doing work that is in high demand.Greater Sudbury has three industries for which PR is being processed. These are the health industries; education, social, community and government services; and the trade and transport industries. (Gemini)
What criteria must be met for PR to be granted?
In addition to the job offer, the foreign worker will have to meet some other prerequisites, after which permanent residency will be granted. Other conditions include:
Working experience or international graduate exemption.
Ability to speak English, as this is the language used in Canada.
Possession of the required qualification for the position.
Ability to settle financially in the urban or rural parts of the region.
Candidates satisfying the abovementioned requirements are issued a certificate of recommendation by a city or rural area within RCIP. This allows them to apply for permanent residency directly. (Gemini)
With which companies in the health sector will one get PR for working?
Which company in the education sector will provide me PR?
Which company in trade and transport will PR be accessible?
