Cardiologist Dr Jivitesh Satija has issued a serious warning regarding several food items that appear healthy but act as slow poison for heart health. Many individuals consume these products under the false impression that they are beneficial when in reality they pose significant risks to the cardiovascular system.Dr Satija highlights that fruit juice often perceived as natural lacks essential fiber and contains excessive sugar which can spike triglyceride levels and cause fatty liver. He explains that eating whole fruits is far superior to drinking juice which can lead to type 2 diabetes due to rapid sugar absorption. Another common trap is the consumption of biscuits made from wheat flour as people believe them to be a good source of fiber but they usually contain refined flour palm oil and high amounts of sodium. The doctor suggests snacking on roasted nuts or fox nuts instead of cookies that contribute to obesity and heart disease.Flavored yogurt is another item marketed as a gut friendly calcium source but a small serving can hold a large amount of added sugar which increases the risk of heart attacks. The expert also advises against low fat packaged foods because manufacturers often replace fat with heavy starch and harmful chemicals that raise insulin resistance. Instant breakfast cereals and flavored protein powders were also flagged for containing artificial additives high glycemic index ingredients and preservatives that harm gut and heart health. Dr Satija urges people to avoid reused oils and packaged snacks rich in trans fats as they elevate bad cholesterol and promote arterial plaque formation
