Mandla. School Closure: The recent precipitation has caused havoc in the state. Moreover, there is waterlogging in many areas. Considering this, there are declared holidays in schools and Anganwadi centers owing to the rains. Schools will remain closed today and tomorrow.

Due to the ongoing forecast and for ensuring the safety of schooled aged children, the Anganwadis will remain closed till July 10 and there are defined holidays on July 3 and 4 for primary and secondary schools. The red alert on heavy precipitation issued by the meteorological department calls for school holidays, which further adds to the previously mentioned decision regarding Umaria, Damoh and Jabalpur districts having free days from schooling.

Cancellation of class schedules have been issued for older students too: the heavy precipitation has caused an increase of inflow of water in the Bargi dam constructed on river Narmada in Jabalpur. Thus, water needs to be released from the dam to maintain currently unstable water levels. Given the context of the heavy rainfall, class suspension was deemed appropriate.
