A defamation by to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi concerning his comments on contentious Hindutva promoter VD Savarkar during Bharat Jodo Yatra in 2022 has been put on file and a hearing took place on May 9, around 12 PM.  

 

Gandhi received a notice considering defamation filed by Devendra Bhutada under sections 500 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code, housed in Nashik, Maharashtra, via the attorney at law Manoj Pingle of which describes in details of how one of the remarks of Gandhi with regards to Savarkar has impacted his feeling deeply. Bhutada claimed that he was deeply hurt by remarks made by Mr. Gandhi.  

When Mr. Pingle furthered his arguments, he was hearing the matter on Savarkar on Saturday along with Joint Civil Judge, Senior Division and Additional CJM, Nashik RC Narwadia upon which claimed that Mr. Gandhi must seek bail in person. After the hearing advocacy, Ai Jayabhave and Chhajed sought charging relief in the form of an enablement of non attendance with the remaining condition being performing video calls when needed and plausible.
