The Income Tax Department has announced an extended deadline for linking Permanent Account Number (PAN) with Aadhaar, setting the new cut-off date as December 31, 2025. This extension offers a significant relief and a vital opportunity for individuals residing in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and the North Eastern states to comply with the mandatory linking requirement.

It is crucial for residents in these specified regions to complete the PAN-Aadhaar linking process by the end of 2025. Failure to do so will result in their PAN card becoming invalid or inoperative. An inoperative PAN card can lead to substantial inconveniences in managing financial affairs, including preventing the opening of new bank accounts, processing of tax refunds, and carrying out various other financial transactions where a valid PAN is a prerequisite. The linking process can be conveniently carried out online via the Income Tax Department's official portal.
