There is good news for the residents of Greater Noida and Noida. The railway overbridge (ROB) on the Delhi-Howrah railway route, located between Roza Jalalpur and Chhapraula in Greater Noida West, is now complete. A trial run has been successfully conducted, and minor improvements will be made before the official opening. According to railway sources, the ROB is expected to be operational this month. The final decision will be made by the railway headquarters, which will also schedule its inauguration.
Key Features of the Noida Chhapraula ROB
The Noida Chhapraula railway overbridge will significantly reduce congestion for commuters traveling between Greater Noida West and Ghaziabad. Currently, vehicles must take a longer route via Gaud City, Tigri, and Shahberi, which often results in traffic jams. The existing railway gate on the Delhi-Howrah route forces commuters to wait for long durations, causing delays.
To address this issue, the decision to build an ROB was made in 2012-13. An agreement was signed between Indian Railways and the state government. While the construction of the bridge was completed in 2019, the approach roads were not finished, delaying the project. Now, with all work completed, the bridge is set to open soon.
When Will the ROB Open?
The trial run for the ROB has already been conducted. The authorities are now working on resolving any minor deficiencies. It is expected that the railway overbridge will be inaugurated and opened for public use within this month.
Better Connectivity: Noida to Ghaziabad in Less Time
Once operational, the ROB will provide seamless connectivity between Greater Noida West and Ghaziabad. Commuters will no longer have to worry about railway gate closures or heavy traffic. This development is expected to significantly reduce travel time and improve the daily commute.
Cities That Will Benefit from the ROB
The completion of the Noida Chhapraula ROB will not only ease travel for Noida and Ghaziabad residents but also benefit people commuting to and from various nearby cities. Some of the key beneficiaries include:
- Secunderabad
- Bulandshahr
- Aligarh
- Meerut
- Saharanpur
- GT Road Travelers
Additionally, major traffic congestion points like Shahberi and Kisan Chowk will see significant relief, making travel smoother for thousands of commuters.
Project Cost and Specifications
- Total Cost: ₹100 crore
- Length of ROB: Approximately 1 kilometer
- Lanes: Two lanes
- Locations Connected: Jalalpur village on one side and Chhapraula on the other
The completion of this ROB marks a significant step toward improving road infrastructure and easing traffic congestion in the region.
The long-awaited Noida Chhapraula ROB is set to provide a much-needed relief for commuters. With the trial run completed and final approvals underway, residents of Greater Noida and nearby cities can look forward to faster and hassle-free travel.
