Suspense crime, Digital Desk : News has just surfaced indicating that the cult classic romantic comedy ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ may have a sequel coming after over a decade of its release.

Unfortunately, it is being reported that the star power of Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Priyanka Chopra may not be recreated in ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2’’.

New Cast Likely, Script Development Underway

As per a report by Pinkvilla, the sequel is currently in the early scripting stage. Sajid Nadiadwala, the producer of the original film, is considering casting three young, established actors instead of bringing back the original stars.

In the report, the source was quoted as saying:

“Currently, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2 is under the script development phase. Its eventual chance of moving towards production depends on how the script unfolds. If Sajid is pleased with the draft, he will commence with the casting; else, he will shelve the project.”

As per the source, the aim of the sequel is to keep the core concept of the original, which is a three-way comedy of errors revolving around love, while also offering a new perspective for the younger audience.

The Legacy of 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi'

David Dhawan directed 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ which became one of the blockbusters of 2004. The film saw a rollercoaster of a comedic love triangle between Samir (Salman Khan), Rani (Priyanka Chopra) and Sunny (Akshay Kumar). The film showed a perfect blend of comedy, romance and chaos which resonated with the audience.

The movie's iconic soundtrack and its unforgettable comedic scenes still ensure the film’s popularity even after two decades.

20 Years Later: Mmemories and Expectations For A Reunion
Priyanka Chopra reminisced about the 20-year mark and celebrated the milestone on Instagram, posting nostalgic pictures with Salman and Akshay in 2024.

She wrote:

“20 years of being Rani! Woah! Those brows tho...”

Sparks a lot of hope no?

Most Awaited Projects of The Original Stars
Salman Khan was recently spotted in Sikandar which is directed by AR Murugadoss. The movie suffered a box office bomb despite having a diverse array of actors casted into it.

Akshay Kumar apparently is busy with his roles in Pink and Kesari Chapter 2 alongside Ananya Panday and R Madhavan.

Priyanka Chopra maintains a balance in Bollywood and Hollywood.

It is possible the packed timetables of these stars contributed to the decision to go ahead with a younger cast.

Looking Forward to ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2’

If the script development is up to speed, Sajid Nadiadwala will move on to casting and production.

The project attempts to blend the nostalgic essence of the original and its refreshing approach to humor aimed at a newer audience.

But for the loyal fans, not having Salman, Akshay, and Priyanka starring will no doubt make ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2’ a different experience.
