Suspense crime, Digital Desk : The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) is forecasting the 2025 monsoon to be unusually early with its first landfall at the Kerala coastline on May 27. Normally, the monsoon hits Kerala around June 1 but this year it is expected five days ahead, giving some respite from the rising temperatures.
Monsoon Will Spread Throughout The Country by July 8
Also, if these projections are accurate, monsoon rains will make their way across the country and are expected to reach all areas by July 8. This early monsoon season, should it occur, would be an unusual event and a noteworthy deviation from typical seasonal behavior. The IMD further added that Andaman and Nicobar islands might experience the initial phases of monsoon activity in the first half of the coming week.
The Importance of Southwest Monsoon for India
July through August, also referred to the southwest monsoon period, accounts for 70-80% of India’s rainfall, making it one of the most important periods in the Indian calendar. This monsoon season triggers agricultural activity significantly boosting crop yields. The South west boundary is very crucial for aa country’s economy.
On the other hand, the rainfall produced between October to December is associated with Western Disturbances which mainly benefit the Coromandel coast and parts of Tamil Nadu.
