While specific details regarding a universal toll tax reduction from ₹115 to ₹25 are not universally confirmed across all national highways in India, news reports indicate targeted policies aimed at providing relief. One such significant update pertains to the Siwaya toll plaza on the Delhi-Dehradun Highway (NH-58), specifically for local residents living within a 20 km radius of the plaza. These residents can avail of a concessionary toll fee of ₹25 instead of the standard ₹115.

This exemption requires vehicle owners to submit their vehicle's registration certificate (RC) and Aadhaar card by August 10, 2025, at the Siwaya toll plaza, provided the vehicle is fitted with a FASTag. This initiative is specifically for non-commercial vehicles like cars and jeeps and is an annual renewal process. Failing to submit the documents by the extended deadline will result in the forfeiture of this discounted rate, and users will revert to paying the full ₹115. This local exemption system has been in place since July 1, 2024, with the next review scheduled for June 30, 2025. The government has also been discussing broader toll rationalization, including a 50% reduction for sections with significant elevated structures like flyovers and tunnels, as part of efforts to make road travel more affordable.
