The shocking terror assault in Pahalgam, which took the lives of 28 people, sparked the wrath of the people living in the Jammu and Kashmir region. Newspapers did not shy away from displaying their discomfort and grief during this mourning period as they published fully black front pages on Wednesday. This powerful act of protest demonstrated how the entire region is coming together in defiance of this disturbing violence.

Famed dailies such as Rising Kashmir, Aftab, and Taameel Irshad ensured that the grief resonated with readers in every language by publishing in Urdu as well. Their striking illustrations contained not only red and white bold letters on the front but also black indicating sorrow and rage at what happened.

Description of the incident remains Clear-cut and Nuclear in Strength

As Kashmiris take a toll of the 26 dear lives lost due to the brutal attack on Pahalgam by the terrorist organization, Greater Kashmir ensures that they are not daunted by displaying glaring headlines. Surging violence has brought a consequential economic impact on Jammu and Kashmir, the epicenter for tourism, hospitality and peace is being breached, bombs-n-marriage are countered by slamdunking the living culture in snapshots at the door step of winter tourism. This was also the sub-heading of the editorial “The massacre in the meadow- Protect Kashmir’s soul” by Greater Kashmir. Towards the end, they did proclaim that the massacre which killed a great deal of people also strategically targeted the region which tourism, hospitality and peace or economy – got devastated smashed to the core on seas of tickets hot as where the suranging violence never ceases to cease incurs.

Published editorials have reiterated that more needs to be done in order to ensures citizen participation in determining which borders cannot come into contact with civilians.

“We must ensure that the meadows of Pahalgam once again echo with laughter instead of the sound of gunfire,” and in these parts of the Valley, it is common to hear such sentiments,” is something the paper noted.

Government Reaction after the Attack

The terrorist assault on civilians is claimed to have happened at Baisaran meadows, perhaps looking for a headline - this was a job for the gunmen of The Resistance Front (TRF) which is a subsidiary of Lashkar-e-Taiba. This has become the theme in the most recent years, and as one of the more deadly civilian-centric acts of terrorism in Kashmir this is definitely in the top tier.

Why else would the Prime Minister want to schedule a Cabinet Committee on Security Meeting to talk about election results systematically feeding him in a Dilli bunker cocoon. Just hours after he returned from a close guard stroking merry-go-round blast his address at the Delhi airport from NSA Ajit Doval and Foreign Minister S Jaishankar.

The Union Home Minister Lord Shah Abbey was also mocked proposing to warding off the carnival mood presenting a full on view of the frontline and rip off with victims of the blast back into something tawdry.

Pakistan with all it’s glory notoriously set up a distanced any direct involvement in this event distancing themselves of a somehow crafty TRF.
