Jimmy Peirson in Australia’s Ashes squad as back-up to Josh Inglis

Melbourne : Australia have included uncapped wicketkeeper Jimmy Peirson in their Ashes squad against England as back-up to Josh Inglis.

Inglis will leave for the birth of his first child after the first Ashes Test at Edgbaston. Pearson would join the group ahead of the Second Test at Lord’s, and would remain in the team until Inglis returned for the series. However, Alex Carey remains Australia’s first choice for the Ashes.

Pierson has so far played 65 first-class matches, scoring over 3000 runs at an average of 34.75, during which he has scored six centuries.

He scored an unbeaten 128 last year for Australia ‘A’ in Sri Lanka while chasing 370 in the fourth innings at Hambantota.

Let us tell you that the Australian team will first face India in the ICC World Test Championship final from June 7 to 11, followed by the Ashes series against England from June 16.
