In Canada, in Hamilton, Ontario, a 21-year-old Indian student, Harsimrat Randhawa has unfortunately passed away after she was a victim of stray gunfire. She was shot while waiting at the bus stop en route to her workplace.

Randhawa, a Mohawk college student, had recieved a bullet injury to her chest which after being hospitalised, died soon after getting to the hospital.

About The Shooting  

Hamilton Police Service reports claim that the gunfire began around half past seven on a Wednesday close to the crossroad of Upper James Street and South Bend Road.

Investigator accounts state that a black car was aiming gunfire towards a white automobile and there was crossfire. Unfortunately, Randhawa was caught in the crossfire. Both cars drove off immediately after the shooting while she was a bystander.

Police also mentioned during the time residents were watching television during the day time, and luckily nobody from the house was injured.

Indian Consulate Expresses Grief and Support

The Consulate posted on the social media site X regarding the issue and indicated how sorrowful they were regarding the incident. They confirmed Randhawa was an innocent bystander and said that a homicide investigation is currently in progress.

The consulate also noted how they are commpletely supporting the family by stating how they are coordinating with Randhawa’s family and providing assistance during this hard time.

Police Seek Help From Citizens

Hamilton Police would like to speak with anyone who might have been around the vicinity during 7:15 PM to 7:45 PM to check their dashcam or other security footage. We encourage everyone to give any tips that could aid in this case.
