DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation) has finalized the tender awarding process for the construction of the Phase IV Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block metro corridor. DMRC has recently awarded the construction of this corridor to Rail Vikas Nigam Limited. This means that construction of this corridor can commence. We can expect construction of this corridor to commence soon, and the work is estimated to be completed in three and a half years.
There will be an improvement in the southern to central delhi commutation in this area. The length of this corridor is 8.38 kilometers, and it will be elevated. There will be 8 metro stations built on this corridor. The central government had approved construction of the corridor on 24th March 2024, just before the elections last year.
Then DMRC initiated the tender for the construction of the elevated viaduct and platforms for 7 metro stations for 7.298 kilometers of this corridor at the price of 456.06 crore in early January this year. In this sequence, now DMRC has awarded the tender for the construction of this corridor to Rail Vikas Nigam for 447.4 crore.
According to DMRC, the contract agency will begin mobilizing resources for the construction of the metro corridor and the project site within one and a half to two months. It is projected that construction will begin in one and a half to two months. This corridor will extend the Lajpat Nagar metro station of the Violet Line to the Saket G Block station on the Golden Line (Tughlakabad to Aerocity) being constructed in Phase 4 of the metro network.
The corridor will have a three-coach metro which will result in a reduced platform length of 74 meters compared to other metro platforms. Each coach is expected to carry approximately 300 passengers, allowing a total of 900 passengers to travel at a time.
Proposed stations on the corridor
Sakej G Block, Pushp Vihar, Saket District Court, Pushpa Bhawan, Chirag Delhi, Greater Kailash One, Andrews Ganj, and Lajpat Nagar.
There are three planned Interchange stations for the project
