Apple has launched its premium video streaming service Apple TV+ as an add-on subscription for Amazon Prime members in India. Available at just ₹99 per month, this move is aimed at growing Apple’s user base in one of the world’s most competitive streaming markets.
The partnership was confirmed on April 2, with Apple TV+ now joining Prime Video’s growing list of third-party streaming services available within the same app interface. This follows Apple’s successful rollout of the same model in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and parts of Europe and Latin America since late 2024.
What Apple and Amazon Are Saying
“We want to make Apple TV+ and its award-winning library available to audiences around the world,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s SVP of Services. He added that the new model has already seen strong reception globally.
Kelly Day, Vice President of International at Prime Video, stated, “We’re delighted to launch this offering in India and bring Apple TV+ to Prime Video customers through a seamless app experience.”
Expanding Services Ecosystem in India
Apple has been expanding its services strategy in India over the past year. In February 2024, the company launched the Apple TV app on Android, and has partnered with Airtel to bundle Apple TV+ and Apple Music with select premium plans.
Apple TV+ originally launched in India in November 2019, also at ₹99 per month, and features globally acclaimed originals like:
Ted Lasso
The Morning Show
Severance
Silo

Prime Video Strengthens Its Position as a 'Super App'
The integration of Apple TV+ adds to Prime Video India's strategy of becoming an OTT super app. The platform now hosts over 25 add-on services, including:
Lionsgate Play
Discovery+
BBC Player
Sony Pictures – Stream
Crunchyroll
Hoichoi
Manorama Max, and more
“With over 75,000 hours of content available through partnerships, we are committed to making Prime Video the first-stop entertainment destination,” said Gaurav Bhasin, Head of Add-On Subscriptions, Prime Video India.
Rising Competition in India’s Streaming Market
The announcement comes as Amazon faces intensified competition, particularly from JioStar — the joint venture between Reliance Industries and Disney. JioStar recently merged JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar to launch JioHotstar, which crossed 100 million subscribers in March 2025.
Other major platforms in the race include Netflix, ZEE5, and Sony LIV, all fighting for a share in India’s booming online entertainment market.
