A big news has come from the Supreme Court regarding pollution. The Supreme Court said that its hearing on the issue of pollution will not be limited to Delhi NCR only. The court will hear the case on pollution across the country. The court further said that pollution is a nationwide problem, so we are expanding the scope of this hearing.
SC sought information about the most polluted cities
The Supreme Court has sought information from the Central Government about the most polluted cities in the country. SC has asked the government whether a system like Air Quality Management Commission can be established in other polluted cities of the country on the lines of Delhi-NCR? The court said that the wrong message should not go out that since SC is in Delhi, the court is concerned only about Delhi’s pollution.
SC reprimanded Delhi government
SC reprimanded the Delhi government for not providing necessary information regarding solid waste disposal. The court asked the Chief Secretary to appear in person in the hearing to be held on December 19. The court said that if the Chief Secretary does not file an affidavit regarding the implementation of our order of November 11 till the next hearing, then we will initiate contempt proceedings.
GRAP-3 implemented in Delhi-NCR
On the other hand, GRAP 3 has been implemented once again in the Delhi-NCR region. Under this, there will be a complete ban on construction and demolition related works.
