BJP abused power, questions Election Commission’s role: Akhilesh Yadav

Lucknow, May 17 (Hindustan Times). Samajwadi Party (SP) national president and former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has tarnished democracy by misusing power in municipal elections. The role of the Election Commission has been under suspicion. The administration is behaving like a BJP worker. The public is aware of this truth and will give a jaw-dropping response to it in the Lok Sabha elections to be held in 2024.

Akhilesh Yadav was addressing a meeting of MLAs and prominent leaders at the Samajwadi Party’s state headquarters in Lucknow on Wednesday. He congratulated the party workers who won the municipal elections and thanked the comrades who were constantly fighting for the party.

The SP president said that preparations for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections have to be started from now. By creating a strong organization of the party up to the booth level, it has to continue to participate in the sufferings of the people. The Samajwadi Party will continue to fight equally against the misdeeds of the BJP. Now the public has come to know that BJP is adept at deceiving people with lies and fraud. Compared to the Samajwadi Party, the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh has not done a single development work in six years. It has been nine years of central government. The central government of BJP has done nothing but misleading in public interest.

Akhilesh Yadav said that people have done the job of teaching BJP a lesson in Uttar Pradesh civic elections. In municipal elections, Janata defeated BJP candidates in 25 per cent BJP MP constituencies. It is the decision of the public against inflation, unemployment, stalled businesses, deteriorating law and order and rising corruption. He said that inflation, unemployment, corruption, problems of farmers are major problems in the country. The central and state BJP governments are responsible for these problems of the state and the country.

Akhilesh Yadav said that the people will overthrow the power of BJP in the Lok Sabha elections. People have realized that BJP is misusing power. BJP may have managed to win some seats in its favor by misusing power and putting pressure on officials but the number of people won against BJP is much higher. 70 percent people of the state are against BJP.
