Ghaziabad: A riot broke out in the Brij Vihar area of Ghaziabad district in Uttar Pradesh after a 14-year-old girl was raped. The police have arrested an accused named Faizan in this case. Despite the arrest of the accused, the public was furious and vandalized the goods and vehicles parked outside the accused’s shop. The crowd’s anger was such that it did not even spare the e-rickshaw parked outside the accused’s shop and set it on fire. On receiving information about the incident, senior police officials reached the spot after which peace was restored.
‘A youth from another community raped the girl’
Giving information about the incident, Sahibabad ACP Rajneesh Upadhyay said that a woman living in the Brij Vihar Chowki area came to Link Road police station in the morning and lodged a complaint that her minor daughter was raped by a youth from another community who works as a scrap dealer. The woman also accused the accused youth of beating her daughter. The officer said that a case has been registered immediately on this complaint and the accused has been arrested. Let us tell you that after the incident, the people of the area became angry and women also took out a rally.
People raised slogans and waved posters
On Thursday evening, some women and men from the area reached the Suryanagar police outpost carrying banners and posters and shouting slogans. They said that the police have not taken any action against the accused so far and if an accused has been arrested, he should be shown. The protesters demanded that the junk shops in the area should also be removed. The crowd blocked the road by staging a sit-in and started shutting down the nearby shops. Shortly after, the junk shops were raided, the vehicles and goods parked there were vandalized and an e-rickshaw was set on fire.
‘The girl was made unconscious and then gang-raped’
Giving information about the incident, the victim’s aunt said that on Wednesday evening all the elder male and female members of the house had gone to work. She said that during this time 3-4 boys who buy and sell junk entered the house by jumping over the back gate and gang-raped the girl after making her unconscious. She said that the girl was also beaten up when she protested. However, the police say that when the victim’s family came to the police station on Thursday morning, they had accused only one person of rape, after which a case was immediately registered and he was arrested.
‘If no action is taken, we will sit on dharna at the commissioner’s office’
Police said that now the victim’s family is accusing 3-4 youths, so the matter will be investigated thoroughly. People associated with Hindu organizations present on the spot said that the incident happened on Wednesday night. They said that the accused has a junk shop where anti-social elements gather every day. People associated with Hindu organizations said that this raises questions on police security because if there was patrolling then this incident might not have happened. They said that if satisfactory action is not taken in this incident then a sit-in will be held at the Police Commissioner’s office
