The Yogi government is continuously breaking the back of crime and criminals in Uttar Pradesh under the ‘Zero Tolerance Policy’. Under this, the UPSTF has taken swift action against the state’s notorious criminals, illegal drug dealers, arms smugglers, cyber criminals, and examination mafia. In the last seven and a half years, the Uttar Pradesh STF has arrested more than 7 thousand notorious and wanted criminals in the state, while 49 notorious criminals have been killed in encounters. At the same time, a large amount of illegal weapons, narcotics, skins, and bones of banned animals have also been recovered. Apart from this, with its intelligence, the STF foiled the plans of criminals by stopping more than 559 criminal incidents before they happened.
7,015 notorious and wanted criminals arrested and 49 killed in encounters
ADG STF Amitabh Yash said that as per the wishes of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, STF is continuously running campaigns to curb crime and criminals in the state. In this sequence, STF has arrested a total of 7,015 notorious and wanted criminals in the last seven and a half years, while 49 criminals were killed during this period. A reward of Rs 10 thousand to Rs 5 lakh was declared for all of them. Apart from this, as a result of alertness and vigilance under the zero-tolerance policy, more than 559 criminal incidents were prevented before they happened. This includes incidents of crimes like kidnapping, robbery, and murder of public representatives, eminent persons, and common citizens. Along with this, 3970 organized criminals were arrested.
Action taken against paper leak gang and illegal liquor smugglers
On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, STF took action against 926 kingpins and solvers of 193 gangs in the last seven and a half years to stop and root out malpractices like cheating and paper leaks in examinations. This action of STF has increased the credibility of the Yogi government among the youth. At the same time, 379 cyber criminals involved in cyber crimes have also been caught. Apart from this, by running a campaign against criminals smuggling illegal weapons, 189 criminals have been arrested and 2080 illegal weapons and 8229 illegal cartridges have been recovered from their possession. STF, while taking action against illegal liquor smugglers, arrested 523 liquor smugglers smuggling liquor from many states including Punjab, Haryana and recovered 80579 boxes of liquor, 330866 liters of rectified spirit, and 7560 liters of readymade country liquor from them.
1083 illegal drug dealers arrested, 6.1 kg brown sugar recovered
STF Deputy SP Deepak Singh said that the agency arrested 1082 accused involved in the illegal drug trade and recovered 91147.48 kg ganja, 2054.651 kg charas, 19727.1 kg doda/poppy, 7.06 kg morphine, 723.758 kg smack, 21.521 kg heroin, 181.012 kg opium, 6.1 kg brown sugar, 6.938 kg methadone and 280899 banned drugs from them. During this, appropriate action was taken by recovering the vehicles used in transporting the drugs.
Action taken against those hunting wild animals
170 criminals from different gangs involved in hunting and smuggling of prohibited wild animals were arrested and 341 kg tortoise calipers, 2 pangolins, 1 tiger skin, 18 kg tiger bone, 2 elephant teeth, 8011 tortoises, 4922 prohibited birds, 1 hyena skeleton, 20 grey langurs, 1 leopard skin, 4.12 kg ambergris, 1 pangolin scallop, 4 wild boar teeth, 563.1 kg red sandalwood, 44 items made of ivory, 25 leopard teeth, 24 leopard nails, 110 jackal horns, 140 Indrajal trees, 1 tiger skeleton, 1 python and 1 snake were recovered from their possession. Vehicles used for these, cash, etc. were also recovered. During this period, STF did a total of 2670 commendable works.
