The Andhra Pradesh government on Sunday issued separate orders suspending three senior IPS officers, including a DG rank officer. These Indian Police Service (IPS) officers are accused of involvement in hasty arrest and harassment of Mumbai-based actress and model Kadambari Jethani without proper investigation in a case registered against her.
These 3 IPS officers have been suspended
According to a government order, former intelligence chief P. Sitaram Anjaneyulu (Director General rank) has been suspended. Former Vijayawada Police Commissioner Kanthi Rana Tata (Inspector General rank) and then Deputy Commissioner of Police (Vijayawada) Vishal Gunni (Superintendent of Police rank) have been suspended after their role in the harassment of actress Jethani was revealed.
Police officers threatened the actress
Actress Kandabri alleged that police officials during the previous government had threatened her with dire consequences if she did not withdraw a case filed against a top corporation official in Mumbai. The actress was arrested earlier this year during the previous YSR Congress government based on a complaint filed by a party leader accusing her of fraud.
Order to arrest actress
It is alleged that the then intelligence chief directed two other officers to arrest the actress, although no crime had been registered against them till that date. According to the government order, as per the records, the FIR against actress Kadambari Jethani was registered on February 2 at 6:30 am, while Anjaneyulu had given instructions to Kanthi Rana Tata and Vishal Gunni on January 31 before filing the FIR.
False case filed- Actress
The actress recently filed a complaint against some police officials alleging that a false case was registered against her and she was harassed.
