People who change their homes into guest houses and operate homestays are about to receive enormous benefits from the Yogi government. Under this scheme, such people will only pay normal rates of house tax, water tax, sewer tax, and electricity instead of commercial tax. The relief is being prepared under the Uttar Pradesh Bed and Breakfast and Homestay Policy. Agreement has been given at the high level and preparations are on to move the policy for cabinet approval.

Uttar Pradesh Bed and Breakfast Policy is being introduced with an aim to facilitate pilgrims and foreign tourists coming to important tourist centers, mythological, and religious robust places in the state. Proprietors offering accommodation with quality meals, toiletries, proper lighting, drinking water, and transport to the site will be able to avail benefits under this scheme. This policy aims to enhance the experience of tourists by improving customer service and expanding the available accommodation.

This is going to encourage improvement in the infrastructure of the state’s economy. New sources of income, as well as employment opportunities, will be made available. It will further assist in providing a wonderful and exceptional experience to tourists visiting the state. Under this policy, all those running homestays will be required to register. In this case, the owner of the building will be permitted to rent out a maximum of two-thirds of the rooms. Its number will be not less than or to put it euphemistically, one but I mean, six or a maximum of twelve. If it is higher than this number, then the benefits of this scheme will not apply. This scheme will be applicable across all regions of the state.

Those who register under this scheme are going to be upfront charged electricity, house tax, water tax and sewer tax at domestic rates. Provision will also be made to provide tutorial aids for those who register under this scheme so that income can be earned through proper management of activities. Applications will enable the holder to receive financial assistance capped at Rs 10,000 as an initiative.
