The government, starting from the next financial year, will offer eligible newly married couples funding of Rs 1 lakh under the mass wedding scheme instead of Rs 51 thousand.

Social Welfare Department has a review meeting on Thursdays, and from there I Yogi CM has decided that under the mass marriage scheme, provision of Rs 1 lakh is made. Out of this amount Rs 1 lakh, Rs 60 thousand will be kept as fixed deposit in the girl’s account, followed by gift vouchers worth Rs 25 thousand for the couple, and remaining Rs 15 thousand is on the wedding ceremony.

While reviewing how the old age pension is being handled currently, he said one of the details that needs greater attention is ensuring not one eligible elderly person is without a pension.
