Yamini Malhotra, a familiar face in Indian television, is now making waves in Bollywood with her debut film Chill Maar Na Bro. Known for her spirited presence on Bigg Boss and her diverse television roles, Yamini is embracing a new challenge with her shift to cinema. In an exclusive interview, she discusses her transition, what drew her to her latest role, and her aspirations for the big screen.

Television to Film: A Journey of Growth

Reflecting on her transition, Yamini describes it as both exciting and educational. “Bigg Boss gave audiences a glimpse of the real me, but Bollywood is an entirely different experience,” she says. “Television moves fast—you need to think on your feet. Films demand detailed preparation and deeper emotional investment. This shift has helped me mature as an artist.”

Chill Maar Na Bro: A Role That Resonates

Yamini plays Maya in Chill Maar Na Bro, a lively aspiring actress from Delhi who moves to Mumbai to pursue her dreams. The film is packed with twists, energy, and humor—qualities that made it an instant fit for Yamini.

“Maya’s journey felt personal,” she shares. “She’s bubbly, ambitious, and doesn’t give up easily. When the director saw my social media and Bigg Boss moments, he said, ‘You’re our Maya!’ That connection made the project special.”

What She Brings to the Big Screen

Having built a strong fan base through television, Yamini is now looking to connect with audiences in a new way. “On TV, I reached homes across India. Now, I want to reach hearts through stories that are more cinematic and emotionally nuanced,” she says.

“I’ve portrayed many characters on television, but cinema lets me dive into silence, expressions, and emotional shades that are often left unexplored. It’s a new artistic language, and I’m ready for it.”

Why Bollywood Was Always the Next Step

For Yamini, entering Bollywood isn’t just about fame—it’s about artistic evolution. “Hindi cinema allows you to grow creatively. You collaborate with diverse filmmakers, try new genres, and challenge yourself constantly.”

She sees the film industry as a broader platform to showcase her experience. “It’s like graduating to a more expansive canvas. With each role, I want to show how far I’ve come and what I still have to offer,” she says with conviction.
