Two Children Die of Suspected Food Poisoning at Lucknow Orphanage:

A serious food poisoning case has emerged from Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, involving a government-run orphanage for mentally challenged children. The incident occurred on the night of March 23 and has resulted in the deaths of two children. As of now, 16 children are being treated at a hospital, where their condition is reported as stable.

Multiple Children Fell Ill After Dinner

Reports state that the children became unwell after consuming khichdi and curd served for dinner. In total, 25 children showed symptoms of food poisoning, including vomiting and stomach pain. The affected children are residents of Rajkiya Balgir Nirman Nirvana Sansthan, a state-run facility housing 146 children at the time.

Two of the minors died at Lokbandhu Hospital in Lucknow, while 16 others remain under medical care. Staff members from the institution confirmed that the illness began shortly after the meal.

Initial Investigation and Response

Preliminary findings point to possible negligence in food preparation or hygiene at the orphanage. Authorities have begun an investigation, and officials stated that strict action will be taken against anyone found responsible. The condition of the hospitalized children is being closely monitored.
