Donald Trump, the commander-in-chief of the United States, issued an executive order Tuesday that will necessitate voters to provide proof of citizenship before casting a vote. This order also attempts to stop states from counting mail-in ballots that are received after Election Day, which in many states is against the law.

The order will also work to withhold federal funding from states that fail to comply with the law.

As part of unsubstantiated claims promoted by Trump and his allies, which assert that there is non-stop volunteer illegal voting by non-Americans, Trump continues to state that his loss to Joe Biden during the 2020 elections was due to fraud. Non-citizen voters: Dead people voting claims by impotent Democrats.

Draconian legislation passed last year by a Republic carried House Of Representatives sought to bar non-citizens from casting a vote during federal elections - this, of course, is against the law. The bill was denied by the Senate when Democrats had control over it.

Voter rights activists claim that the act of order will achieve nearly nothng in terms of goal. Just like the Protect Life Choice Act which was also passed by the House without gaining traction, try to make it tougher for non-white people without passports to vote, which besides being racist is illegal.

“We need to fix our elections,” Trump stated as he affixed his signature on the document at the White House Tuesday. “The ‘fake’ and ‘bad’ elections have made this country sick, and we will fix the elections one way or the other.”

This order will possibly face laws and blocks.

This and others of Trump’s policies have several components which cumulatively undermine the institutions of democracy of the US. According to Trump, which is Public Citizen executive director Lisa Gilbert. 'This is an effortless claim to attack democracy and seizes power.'

In the recent past Republicans have tried to make voting more difficult and Democrats have tried to liberalize voting by endorsing mail and early voting.

Public Citizen's claims that over 146 million Americans do not have passports. Research from the Brennan Center shows that 9 percent of American citizens who are eligible to voted do not possess proof of citizenship, which accounts for roughly twenty-one million.

A passport may be invalidated by the US Secretary of State at any time if it is determined that it was issued or created in illegality, or if, fraud was used to obtain it.

The White House claimed that Trump's executive order would stop interference by foreign nationals in America’s elections. Under the new directive, voters would be prompted with a citizenship question when filling out the federal voting form for the first time.

“Funds pertaining to federal elections will be withheld until states comply with the protective measures mandated by federal legislation, one of which requires states to accept the national mail voter registration form which will now necessitate proof of citizenship,” a White House fact sheet of the order stated.

The order also took a shot at policies that permitted mail-in ballots to be submitted and counted beyond Election Day. The order stated that Trump’s directive is to “ensure that votes are cast and received by the election date which is prescribed by law."

The National Association of Secretaries of State claim that 18 states, along with Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, and Washington D.C., will accept ballots that have a postmark of on or before Election Day without regard to when they are received.

Trump also mandated the secretary of Homeland Security to guarantee that the states have the ability to use systems to authenticate the citizenship or immigration status of a voter registrant.

It also orders a representative of Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency and the Department of Homeland Security to examine state voter registration databases and, if need be, use a subpoena to determine whether they are compliant with federal standards.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) claimed on Tuesday that it has filed a request for public information with 48 states and the District of Columbia in order to ascertain how these jurisdictions manage their voter registration files.

\"Voters are entitled to ensure that their states are actively managing voter registries and taking prompt measures to erase the information of non-qualified voters,\" RNC Chairman Michael Whatley noted in a press release.
