In a tragic incident reported from Mau district in Uttar Pradesh, a newly married couple lost their lives after being hit by a speeding truck. The accident occurred on Tuesday evening around 5:45 PM near Garhwa turn in the Haldharpur area.

Couple Was En Route to Wife’s Parental Home

According to the police, 29-year-old Pawan Kumar Singh and his 26-year-old wife Rinki Singh were on their way to Pilkhi Varuna village, where Rinki’s family lives. As they reached the Garhwa turn, a trailer truck collided with their motorcycle, throwing both of them to the ground and leaving them critically injured.

Despite immediate help from nearby residents, both victims succumbed to their injuries shortly after the crash.

Police Response and Investigation

Haldharpur SHO Jagdish Vishwakarma confirmed that the couple died on the spot. Police transported the bodies to the Jogapur Ratanpura Community Health Center, where they were officially declared dead by medical staff.

The trailer involved in the accident has been seized, but the driver managed to flee the scene. A complaint has been filed by the victims' family, and an investigation is currently underway.

Public Outrage and Traffic Disruption

The incident sparked anger among locals, many of whom raised concerns over unchecked speeding by trailer trucks, especially in the evening hours. The accident also caused a major traffic jam stretching 4 kilometers from Pehasa Bazaar to Haldharpur, mostly involving heavy vehicles.

Residents are urging authorities to take action to prevent further accidents and improve road safety measures in the area.
