Wheat Buying Target: Last year, the rising price of wheat and rice had brought wrinkles on the forehead of the common man. After this, the government started selling wheat from the buffer stock to control the price. Wheat was sold to wholesale traders through auction, which helped in maintaining the price of wheat at a level in the election year. To maintain the price of wheat at the old level, the government increased the target of wheat purchase this time. But after the initial decline in wheat purchase, it has now increased.
Last year the total procurement was 262.02 lakh tonnes
