The final of IPL 2023 could not be played in Ahmedabad on 28 May due to rain. Now this match between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans will be played on 29th May, Monday i.e. today. However, a delay of one day will affect Team India’s preparations for the World Test Championship. Due to the postponement of the IPL final by 1 day, 3 players included in the Indian team for the WTC final will now reach England with a delay of 2 days. India has to play the final of the World Test Championship against Australia from 7th June.
Significantly, Shubman Gill, Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja are part of the IPL 2023 final between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans and now these three players will reach England after 2 days due to the change in the schedule of the final. Earlier it was expected to reach London by May 30. Now they will be able to reach there only after May 31 and India has to play a big match against Australia at The Oval from June 7.
It is unlikely that Shubman Gill, Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja can start training soon after reaching London. The entire team of head coach Rahul Dravid will come only after June 1. Even after this, Team India will be able to prepare with full force and intra squad matches will also be considered.
It may be noted that the first batch of players reached London on May 24 after Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore were ousted from the IPL playoffs. It included players like Virat Kohli, R Ashwin, Akshar Patel, Umesh Yadav. Captain Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who were included in the team as standby players, also left for London on Sunday. Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav will also reach England by Monday.
