On Monday, the Supreme Court ordered the former IAS probationer Pooja Khedkar to appear before the Delhi Police on 2nd May regarding the allegations that she soured the OBC and disability reservation quota manipulations in the 2022 UPSC Civil Services Exams.
A BNV Nagarathna led bench also gave interim relief and ordered no coercive measures be taken on Khedkar until 21st May which is the date of the next hearing.
Court notes, Investigating Status
S V Raju, the Additional Solicitor General for the Delhi Police wanted to put her in a custodial interrogation, but the court did not give allowance this time. The bench said there's not much progress in the ongoing investigation and told police to get moving.
Allegation Background of Khedkar
Khedkar is accused of document forgery regarding her application for OBC and disability quotas where she is said not to meet the requirements. A previous order from the Delhi High Court denying anticipatory bail brought out claims of a possible conspiracy saying the case joins with others requires some scrutiny.
The UPSC is in the process of a disciplinary action which includes criminal complaint while Delhi Police have filed an FIR under many sections of IPC for cheating and forgery.
