Exponential Growth of COVID-19 Cases in Singapore

The Ministry of Health (MOH) in conjunction with the Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA) in Singapore noticed a disturbing rise in COVID-19 infections.

Estimated cases (Apr 27 - May 3): 14200
Previous Cases: 11100
Daily Increase in Hospitalizations: Increased from 102 to 133
ICU Cases: Slight decline from 3 to 2.

Regardless of the constantly increasing case in infections, authorities had confirmed that new variants currently spreading (LF.7 and NB.1.8, descendants of the JN.1 variant) are currently not more contagious or severe than past strains.

Public Health Advisory from Singapore Authorities

Regarding the trends seen, MOH and CDA pointed out:

Decreased immunity within the population for the increase.

Most importantly for citizens above 60 years of age, sick people, and residents staying in nursing homes.

Take care of your per sonal hygiene:

Sneeze and cough into tissues or your elbow, and wash your hands regularly.

Use facemasks:

Suggested when exhibiting sore throat, headache, fever, or in congested areas.
