
Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir successfully eliminated three terrorists, including Saifullah, a commander of Jaish-e-Mohammad, along with Farman and Basha, in a high-altitude forested area of Naidgam, Chatroo. The operation began on April 9, with the first militant gunned down in the morning and two more later that day.
Each of these terrorists had a ₹5 lakh reward on their heads. Commando teams from the 2, 5, and 9 Para units, CRPF, and the J&K Police Special Operations Group led the mission.
Helicopters, Ammunition Recovery, and Army Leadership Involved
The encounter occurred in snow-covered, densely forested terrain, with helicopters deployed to trace fleeing militants. A large quantity of arms, explosives, and ammunition was recovered.
Brigadier JVS Rathi, Commander of 5 Sector Assam Rifles, and DIG Shridhar Patil from the Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban range, are set to brief the media on Saturday from the 5 Assam Rifles headquarters.
Simultaneous Operations Ongoing in Udhampur and Kishtwar
Parallel anti-terror operations have commenced in Udhampur and Kishtwar to neutralize additional threats from a group that infiltrated through the Hiranagar sector in Kathua. Reports suggest the terrorists belong to the Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit.
Terrorists Spotted in Udhampur Villages
On April 3, two terrorists held a family hostage in Chore Panjwa-Khabbal of Majalta block, seizing food and a mobile phone. A similar intrusion occurred on April 9 in Basantgarh, Udhampur, where terrorists entered a home and took essentials before fleeing.
These villages fall in the same region where terrorists were initially tracked on March 23 in Saniyal village, Hiranagar. An earlier encounter in Sufain forest, Kathua district, on March 27, resulted in the deaths of two terrorists and four police officers.
Pakistan Army Violates Ceasefire in Akhnoor Sector
Late on April 11, the Pakistan Army breached the ceasefire along the Line of Control in the Keri-Battal sector, attempting to push militants across into Indian territory. The Indian Army responded immediately, resulting in a firefight.
Indian JCO Martyred in LoC Firing
During the exchange, JCO Kuldeep Singh sustained a gunshot wound and was airlifted to a nearby garrison hospital, where he later succumbed. The ceasefire violation occurred around 9:15 PM near Khour police station, as per official reports.
The Indian Army is expected to issue an official statement regarding the situation shortly.
