Actress Renu Desai recently opened up about her decision to remain single after her divorce from actor-politician Pawan Kalyan. In a candid conversation on the Nikhil Vijayendra Simha podcast, she discussed the emotional and practical reasons behind her choice, emphasizing her commitment to her children.
Past Marriage and Family Life
Renu Desai and Pawan Kalyan were one of the most talked-about couples in the early 2000s, having appeared together in Telugu films like Badri and Johnny. They got married in 2009 and had two children, Akira Nandan and Aadhya. However, their marriage ended in divorce, finalized in 2012. While Pawan later married Russian actress Anna Lezhneva, Renu decided not to remarry.
A Mother's Perspective
When asked whether she missed companionship, Renu admitted she did. “Of course, I wish I had a partner,” she said, “but my obligation to my children keeps me from pursuing that path.” She explained that while she had once gotten engaged in 2018, the relationship felt like an arrangement and didn’t work out because her children remained her top priority.
Prioritizing Her Daughter’s Growth
Renu shared that her 15-year-old daughter Aadhya is her main focus. She hinted that she might consider dating once Aadhya turns 18 and heads to college, showing a strong inclination toward responsible parenting and emotional sensitivity in family decisions.
Career Updates and Future Projects
Apart from her personal life, Renu Desai continues to stay active professionally. She recently appeared in the TV show Radhamma Kuthuru and the film Tiger Nageswara Rao. She has also signed on to new film projects, which are yet to be officially announced.
Renu’s Directorial Journey
Renu Desai made her directorial and production debut with the Marathi film Ishq Wala Love in 2014. Her creative involvement in cinema reflects her multifaceted talent beyond acting.
