Suspense Crime, Digital Desk : The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) conducted a large-scale encroachment clearance drive on Monday in the Jagatpura area of the state capital. Around 3,000 police and officers were present to ensure a tight security net. More than 125 illegal structures, including five religious sites, have already been demolished as part of the initiative to widen a road parallel to the railway line, from Nandpuri underpass, to 80ft.

JDA authorities are currently in the process of widening a road parallel to the railway line, extending from Nandpuri underpass to 80ft. Illegal constructions are being demolished along this road. The authorities assert that this is being done in the public interest to ease traffic.

Following an order from the divisional commissioner V. Saravan Kumar, 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G mobile internet services have been shut down across several police station limits between midnight Sunday and midnight Monday. This has been done, according to officials, to stop the spread of rumors.

Net ban is being enforced in several parts of Jaipur Police Commissionerate and district. Several police station limits in Jaipur North including Ramganj, Galta Gate, Manak Chowk, Subhash Chowk, Amer, Brahmapuri, Nahargarh, Kotwali, Jalupura, Sanjay Circle, Shastri Nagar, Vidyadhar Nagar, have been included in the net ban. Several other police station limits of Jaipur East like Bassi, Kanota, Adarsh Nagar, Transport Nagar, Jawahar Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Malviya Nagar, Pratap Nagar, and Sanganer have also been included.

Movement restrictions in sensitive areas

During the demolition, the entire area has been cordoned off by police and administrative officers, restricting public movement in sensitive areas and warning people against unnecessary exit.

Power cut complicates peoples' issues

The entire area has been cut off from power, making the work more difficult in the heat for the locals. Many homes and businesses also lack network, having affected both mobile and internet services for many.

Call drops, no network due to shutdown

Several people across parts of the city have reported frequent call drops and no network during the night after the mobile internet services and networks were shut down by the authorities. They cannot even contact their friends and families.

Police ask people not to gather on rooftops

Police continue to make appeals through public address systems not to gather on rooftops. They are also requesting people to come down, avoid taking pictures/videos and stay clear of the operation area.

Drone cameras being used for surveillance

Drone cameras are being used for aerial surveillance during the operation, and security has also been posted on the rooftops of several houses and buildings in sensitive locations.

WhatsApp, Facebook and X also hit by shutdown

Along with mobile internet and bulk SMS, this ban also affects internet messaging services like WhatsApp, Facebook and X.
