The heartwarming family drama Piku, which originally released in 2015, returned to cinemas on May 9, 2025, to celebrate its 10th anniversary. As Deepika Padukone announced it on Instagram, the news went viral amongst people who love watching movies.

Deepika, who starred as the titular character alongside Amitabh Bachchan, posted a Piku-related montage of scenes featuring herself and Amitabh on Instagram, captioned “A film that will always have my heart – PIKU is back in theatres on 9th May, 2025 for it’s 10th anniversary! Irrfan, we miss you! And think about you every so often…”

In the clip, Amitabh Bachchan was seen addressing his fans with a nostalgic reminiscence on the counters as the round PIKU was finishing, during which he encouraged the viewers to go out and enjoy watching the movie PIKU.

About the Film

Piku which was released in 2015 on 8th May was directed by Shoojit Sircar and casted:  

Deepika Padukone in the role of Piku Banerjee,  

Amitabh Bachchan in the role of Bhaskor Banerjee,  

Irrfan Khan as Rana Chaudhary,  

Moushumi Chatterjee along with Jisshu Sengupta in supporting roles.  

The film was based on a humorous yet sensitive story of a daughter and father’s relationship while they go on a road trip from Delhi to Kolkata.  

Box Office and Legacy

The movie Piku earned  over ₹140 crore worldwide within its first few weeks of release.  

The film Piku scored excellent reviews for its emotional depth, screenplay, performances and strong sentiments.  

Piku will still be remembered by many people, mainly due to late actor Irrfan Khan’s stunning and bold performance.
