Popular Telugu actor Nani is all set to return to the big screen with HIT 3, the newest chapter in the successful HIT franchise. In this crime thriller, Nani plays Arjun Sarkaar, a relentless cop whose aggressive methods blur the line between justice and brutality.
“Police Brutality Can Never Be Justified”: Nani
During promotions for HIT 3, Nani opened up in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter about the depiction of police brutality in films. He stated firmly:
“Police brutality is not justifiable, no matter what. We might make our film showing our protagonist in that manner, but it is not justifiable.”
He explained that cinema might portray violent characters for dramatic effect but clarified that these portrayals do not endorse or normalize such actions in real life.
A Complex Character with Purpose
Nani compared Arjun Sarkaar’s character to his earlier film Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, where SJ Suryah’s cop character was clearly defined as a villain. In HIT 3, however, Arjun’s behavior stems from a deeper motivation.
“He looks for purpose. So when he wants to crack a case, he believes the rest to be collateral damage,” Nani said.
This layered approach sets Arjun apart from typical violent cops seen in films, making him morally ambiguous rather than outright evil.
Violence Driven by Genre, Not Glorification
Nani clarified that HIT 3’s high level of violence is not intended to glorify brutality. Instead, it is tied to the film’s genre and emotional stakes, designed to challenge viewers' perspectives.
The filmmakers aim to explore the gray area between justice and vengeance, provoking the audience to reflect on whether a strong sense of purpose can excuse morally questionable actions.
A Psychological Crime Thriller with Moral Depth
As HIT 3 gears up for release, anticipation is high thanks to its intense narrative, philosophical undertones, and Nani’s powerful performance. The film promises to push boundaries and spark debate on law enforcement, morality, and justice in modern cinema.
