Mumbai’s Bandra-Versova sea link to be known as ‘Veer Savarkar Setu’, Maharashtra CM’s big announcement

In a major announcement, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said the under-construction Bandra-Versova Sea Link in West Mumbai will be named after Hindutva thinker VD Savarkar. Shinde also said that state and central level gallantry awards will also be named after Savarkar. In his address on Savarkar’s birth anniversary in New Delhi, Shinde said that some people are deliberately maligning Savarkar for their own selfish interests. He said that such people fear that if Savarkar’s ideas become popular in the society, they will have to close their shops.

Savarkar’s birth anniversary was first celebrated in the House by the state government

Shinde said that this is the first time that Savarkar’s birth anniversary is being celebrated in the Maharashtra Griha built by the state government. He said, “Savarkar’s critics know that if his ideas become popular in the society, he will have to close his shop. Guess how scared they are that even after 57 years of Savarkar’s death, they are opposing him.” Born on 28 May 1883 in Nashik district, Savarkar died on 26 February 1966. Shinde said, “The Bandra-Versova sea link is named after Savarkar. Name will be kept.
