Mumbai Hit And Run Case: Court Sent Mihir Shah To Police Custody, Got Custody Till July 16

Mumbai Hit and Run: In the BMW hit and run case, the Mumbai court has sent the main accused Mihir Shah to police custody till July 16. 24-year-old Mihir Shah was arrested on Tuesday. The police produced him in court on Wednesday.

Three days ago, he allegedly hit a two-wheeler with his BMW car, killing a woman and injuring her husband. The accused was produced before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (Sewari Court) SP Bhosale, who sent him to police custody.

The number plate of the car was not recovered

During the hearing, the police told the court that it was a “brutal, heartless crime”. They said the accused should be given maximum custody as they have to investigate who helped him escape and also the number plate of the car is yet to be recovered.

The car driver, Bidawat, who allegedly swapped the driver’s seat with Mihir, is already in police custody till July 11.

CM said about strict action

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday said that whoever is found guilty in the BMW ‘hit-and-run’ case will not be spared and strict action will be taken against them. He also announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the victim’s family.

The accident happened on Sunday

Mihir was reportedly driving a BMW, car that hit the scooter in which a couple was riding. In the accident, Kaveri Nakhwa (45) died and her husband Pradeep was injured. The accident took place in Mumbai’s Worli area on Sunday morning.

The woman was dragged for about 1.5 km

According to the police, Kaveri Nakhwa was dragged by the speeding car for about 1.5 km, then Mihir stopped the car, swapped seats with his driver Rajarshi Bidawat and fled in another vehicle, the driver allegedly ran over her while reversing the BMW. Mihir, who was absconding since the accident, was finally arrested on Tuesday.

Shivsena sacked the accused’s father

Mihir’s father Rajesh Shah is a Shiv Sena leader from Palghar district, according to the police, he actively helped Mihir escape after the accident. Rajesh Shah, who is currently out on bail, was removed from the post of deputy leader of the Shiv Sena on Wednesday.
