Shami’s Discusses His One Meal A Day Protocol
On the Star Sports show, Shami told ex-cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu during a discussion that relayed on February 21, that his diet consists of one meal a day.
Dinner is the only meal his body relies on for energy during the day.
Shami shared that, “After 2015, I started eating once a day. Difficult in the begining but after a while it gets simple.”
Battling Excess Weight Post Rehabilitation
The Shami diet strategy stems from my pursuit of fitness after a 14 month hiatus following an ankle injury at the 2023 World Cup final. During the rehabilitative period, I was battling excess weight challenges.
“I gained upwards of 90 kg during the recovery period,” he explained.
Persistence allowed him to shed 9 kg of weight but lack of discipline stunted further progress.
Shami remarked, “My time at the national cricket academy was extremely challenging, the hardest part about it was battling yourself.”
Sugars, sweets and spicy foods are strict no in Shami’s diet plan as he avoids these reasons.
To achieve his fitness goals, he maintains a basic diet.
What About Biryani?
Even with amazing self-control, Shami confesses to having one weakness.
He chuckles and adds, “With biryani, sometimes, it’s alright,” which suggests that he secretly allows himself a few cheat meals.
