India has made it clear that they expect the host government to meet their diplomatic responsibilities, explaining that the “misuse of democratic freedoms” has crossed the line in a case where S Jaishankar’s security was breached during his visit to London. India has also expressed their displeasure at the complacency shown towards these matters.
The Minister concluded his session at Chatham House during which a pro-Khalistani protester breached the barricades and several others began chanting anti-India slogans. This incident transpired as the Minister was making his way to his car.
This was part of the Minister's rest of the week long trip to Ireland and the UK, with the first three days being focused on how the two countries can collaborate more effectively. “This group of irate extremistsand separatists is small in number, but the inflammatory rhetoric and actions of these folks have a great impact. These group of people not only jeopardize social welfare, but also confront national security as well,” Jaiswal stated.
While visiting the UK, EAM Jaishankar met with the senior leaders including Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Foreign Secretary David Lammy and few others.
Jaishankar pointed out that the two Cooper and he talked about the need to combat "extremism" strike and “trafficking” during the talent flow between India and UK at a meeting he had on Tuesday with United Kingdom's Home Secretary.
"He @YvetteCooperMP with me in the UK today at a important thinking of issueless talent and people to people exchange," he said on X, “We also talked about join schemes toward trafficking and extremism.”
Pro-Khalistan protestors showed up waving yellow flags while Jaishankar stood waiting for his car to be brought to him after visiting Chatham House and had started vigorous slogans against India. A tall man was seen charging the police barrier set around the minister's motorcade, prepared to get into it.
He subsequently tried to intercept the minister?s vehicle. But he was rapidly pulled away by Metropolitan Police officers. This is not the first breach of security by a pro-Khalistani individual.
